She is so excited - can’t stop talking about how interesting that was - which is NOT the reaction I expected :)

Who?

Young at heart but ageing up top - I’ve pursued many varied interests professionally and socially, and still do. But over the last few years, the thing that really inspires me is the exploration of knowledge and it’s evolution - how it shapes our world and perspectives, as well as it’s inaccuracies and limitations. I’m currently living on a boat my friend Jack built on the canals of East London, while considering building (or attempting to build) my own.

What?

I teach on a range of disciplines including Maths, English, French, Chess, off-curriculum and professional activities. I often work with people with significant challenges with learning or socialising. I hope to further the curiosity of students and to develop a better understanding of the learning process, especially in areas that have been hard to navigate in the past. This goes for me too, which is one of the reasons for my interest in dialogue.

How?

Most fundamentally, my approach to teaching is rooted in a more organic approach: cooperating with and facilitating the interests of the student, and providing opportunities for them to ‘see’ things for themselves. I have wide-ranging interests and experience to draw on to try and bring teaching to life, while I enjoy working together to make subjects clearly understood and relevant.

Why?

We know what we know; we know what we don’t know; but what we don’t know we don’t know is the really interesting bit. That and the fact that sometimes what we know is only scraping the surface. So I enjoy exploring subjects with students, in particular that moment when the penny drops, but I also find this a fruitful environment to gain insights into what’s under the hood.

Classes

To make classes as accessible as possible, and to experiment with different formats, a limited number of free classes are available, subsidised by paid classes.
